The Misfits were unbeleivable. Danzig was a sublime songwriter. Love all the horror movie references (like, in this one, for example, "The Devil's Rain"), but unlike the post '96 Misfits the words were never direct descriptions of movies. Instead, they were weird, sick, interesting, funny, stream of consciousness type of stuff. Then the music; doo wop, punk, hardcore, and in this one tinges of country, and those great vocals. Unfortunately Danzig ain't singing on this cover!This is a fun one to play. I've seen it played slow before (professionally by the Lemonheads for example), but since the song has a very similar progression to "prison bound", which I've posted a cover of, I had to change it up. So I hit play on the camera and let 'er rip. Ended up playing at least 4 totally different tempos within this version. I realize this dark, disturbing song is strange to hear coming from someone dressed in bright orange Mets gear and a crucifix but this is what I was wearing tonight so, whatever. I happened to be wearing band shirts and stuff for most of the videos I've made so far, but not tonight.Oh, "emo". I've seen ppl accuse others of being "emo" if they do a slow version of a song like this. For the record, I don't know what "emo" is, and I can't care less. Last time I was paying attention, emo had something to do with stuff like Fugazi and Rites of Spring. Now its something different, of which I know nothing about (and like it that way).
